Most of our gemstones are rubies and sapphires (hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale)—so hard that even a metal knife(hardness of 4-6 on the Mohs scale) can’t scratch them!We hope their unyielding strength inspires you to face life’s challenges with confidence.

7. How long does it take to lab-grow a gemstone once?
In fact, for most of the gemstone varieties we cultivate, we have to wait for almost a year! The crystals grow slowly on the seeds, maintaining their natural crystal shape. At the end of this process, you get crystals that are identical to the rough stones found in nature, including their physical, chemical, and optical properties. Every time we open a crucible that hasn't been touched for ten months, we are filled with amazement. Sometimes, though, it also leaves us greatly disappointed. We are constantly experimenting, making subtle changes to improve the quality of the crystals. Continuous experimentation is key to sustained innovation. What's more, many of the lab-grown gemstones are unusable—on average, we lose 80-90% of the gemstones simply because of inclusions that are revealed during cutting. This is a natural part of the crystal growth process. We also have to sacrifice some crystals to use as seeds for the next round of growth.

9. Do you include a certificate in your package?
All of our gemstones can be tested by GUILD. However, due to the long testing time and the high costs charged by authoritative laboratories, this would significantly increase the purchase cost for our customers. Therefore, Jewel Island adopts a sampling testing method: one piece from each batch is selected for testing. Since all gemstones of the same type are grown using the same process, the test result of the sample is sufficient to guarantee the authenticity of the entire batch.
We do not issue a certificate for every single piece. Of course, if you require a certificate, we can arrange testing for you, with costs ranging from 80to500 and a testing period of about one month. Please feel free to contact our customer service team for more information.
This link is for the deposit on your custom jewellery. After you place the order, we will email you to discuss the design, 3D modelling, and estimated price range. You can make adjustments at any time before production starts. Once confirmed, we will begin crafting your piece. Upon completion, we will send you a live video and a cost breakdown for the gold, labour, and gemstones used. The balance is due before shipment. Please note that custom items are non-refundable and non-returnable unless there is a quality issue. Thank you for your understanding.
